The Land of Plenty

Well I’m in Townsville at the moment catching up with a friend that’s just had a baby - more importantly I’ve stumbled across a town full to the brim with the Nectar of the Gods.

I’ve never seen 2 litre bottles of Iced Coffee before, I was amazed to be quite honest. I haven’t purchased one yet, I’m afraid that I won’t be able to help drinking it in one sitting - not a good idea in this sort of heat.

Countdowns

I thought, as I sit at my desk waiting to go home, I would throw up some countdowns to a few random events that will be happening for me over the next few weeks.

Countdown to …

  1. Seeing The Dark Knight - 2 Hours and 30 Minutes.
  2. International Awesome Day (My Birthday) - 3 Days, 6 Hours and 59 Minutes.
  3. My Holiday in Cairns - 9 Days, 17 Hours and 18 Minutes.
  4. Paintball Weekend - 31 Days, 20 Hours, 28 Minutes.

So there you go. From that you can tell what an exciting life I lead. I would have made them actually count down, so that we can keep track, but that would have required too much effort - I’m just wasting time until I leave work.

Oh,  just so that you know, the time at the moment is 5:00pm - July the 22nd of July, 2008.

USB NES Controller with Games!

Check out this tutorial from Ed’s How To’s. With any luck you’ll end up with a NES controller like the one from the video above.

You may have noticed a new button accompanying my posts … This button is to help share and save the more interesting posts that I do so that you can either come back to them again or pass them on to your friends. I’m not sure if there are any posts that I’ve done thus far that are really worth passing on, but I’m sure my mum will want to save some of them - someone has to read the site … right?

Anyway, once you mouse over this button it’ll pop up with some of the more common websites to post to; if the site you want to share, or save, to doesn’t come up straight away there’s also a button to expand the pop up.

As I said above, I’m not sure who’ll use this feature but now that it’s there at least people have the option.

Fable 2 in October!

Fable2

I bought my Xbox 360 about this time last year in anticipation for Fable 2 and now, finally, Peter Molyneux has announced that they’re on track for a release sometime around October 2008.

Also confirmed was the exciting news that Fable 2 will feature online cooperative gameplay directly accessible at “any point during the story” for those playing over Xbox Live

Players engaged in the game will be able to identify whether or not their friends are online through the presence of an in-game orb. This orb can then be activated within the game to invite other players to hop in and lend a hand at any point during Fable 2’s campaign.

Molyneux stressed that this feature would be particularly interesting for players who wish to compare different styles of play across the same campaign. Since Fable’s world dynamically shapes itself around the actions of the protagonist, the world that one ends up hopping into could (theoretically) end up being an extremely different place from the one you left behind.

Game of the Week - N

Well, to be brutally honest, I’ve forgotten how many weeks the Game of the Week has been running for and - right now - I have no idea what week in the year we’re up to.

None the less, I’m not one to let lack of knowledge hold back an update … usually I leave that to procrastination and laziness… But enough, the Game of the Week this week is N.

I’ve actually downloaded a version of this for my Xbox which, to be frank, is a lot more fun when you can play it on a tv with a nice controller. I’m sure you could get some sort of joypad for the flash version but it just doesn’t seem worth the effort.

Tumek Layout

You may notice that over the last 12 or so hours the design of this site has been changing. Sorry if this has been confusing you, or making it difficult to find things, but I decided it was time for another little re-design.

Unfortunately I get pretty bored of the layouts pretty quickly and - because it’s what I have the most fun doing - I just decide to redo them every now and then.

Anyway, once I’ve finalised this one I think I’ll try and stick with it for awhile. The last design was had was, while appearing fairly simple on the outside, very busy and messy “behind the scenes,” which, in turn, made it quite a pain in the ass to modify.

I’ll play around with this design for awhile but, hopefully, things will remain more or less the same.

Game of the Week - Pepsi Minigames

Well it’s Monday morning and I SHOULD be working; as you may have guessed - I’m not.

I’m having some issues with my computer this morning. My external hard drive isn’t being recognised by windows, which is strange since I’ve never had a problem with it before. In addition to that it doesn’t look like PDA wants to be recognised by my computer either. I guess we’re having some USB problems, I’m going to assume that it’s because it’s Monday.

Another “Mondayism” : There’s no sugar for me to have with my coffee. This either means that I A. Drink coffee without sugar, B. I don’t drink any coffe, C. I order a coffee from the corner store. I’ve opted for Option B because I don’t do coffee without sugar and I owe the corner store $20 so, if I go there, they’ll call me in on my tab.

In other news because it is Monday we’re due for another Game of the Week. This week our game is courtesy of solrasi and it’s actually a few games. You can either attribute the abundance of games to a lack of recent updates or a lack in game quality - either would be resonable.

Anyway, on with the links to the games!

Pepsi Game One!
Pepsi Game Two!

Well I hope you enjoy wasting your precious time with these games; I did. I guess I should attempt to complete some work!

Another Week…

Well it’s the start of another work week and, to be quite honest, I don’t have much enthusiasm for it. Coming off the back of a long weekend (thanks to the birthing of royals) I had thought that I might have been more refreshed and willing to come back to the grind but it seems that the holiday only served to show me what I really desired; work free days.

I feel like I owe you guys a Game of the Week and I think it should be something special; since the last game was really pretty terrible. Admitting that the Ice Break game wasn’t very good is hard for me today because I’m a loyal Ice Break consumer. Almost every day I sink one of those smooth, caffeine beverages into my eagerly awaiting mouth.

Until I’ve found a worthy Game of the Week I really suggest you check out the Geometry Wars clones that are floating around the internet. You can find at least two of them on our forum; I suggest Grid Assault, not for any particular reason, I just seemed to have more fun with it.
